It's officially been a couple of years since we have traveled abroad. Though we have our legitimate reasons (one of those reasons is obvious), I can't help but feel a bit guilty for not taking the time to find a solution to do any form of traveling. In my mind, any type of travel was not possible. I can't help but feel as though we have been depriving ourselves from the joys we were at one time experiencing twice a year with traveling abroad. It truly is unfortunate to think that we haven't felt that travel rush and excitement for such a long time. All of those joys that come with travel: finding the best flight deal, planning and packing for the trip, stepping on the plane, landing in a new (or familiar city), and exploring our destination with every sense heightened and eager to take in as much as possible simply has not existed in our lives the last couple of years. We've been missing out.
Though I can't turn back time, nor am I able to plow straight through some of those roadblocks that have prevented us from traveling, I have finally found that scenic detour. Traveling abroad is still out of reach for a while, but traveling to places I've never been and have always wanted to go within this amazing country is not only possible...but just as exciting!
